The certification body MTPZ is responsible for the processing of conformity appraisal procedures as well as the certification of products in accordance with their relevant directives and standards.

MTPZ was examined on 14.12.2005 by the federal network agency in order to ensure eligibility as a certification body in accordance with EN 45011 and was subsequently acknowledged and certified as such with effect from 15.12.2005.

The assessment of technical documentation, presented by the manufacturer (or his authorised representative), with respect to the selected elements of the essential requirements of the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC constitutes the primary task of the notified body bearing the number 1948.

A manufacturer may approach the notified body in the following cases:
  • The applied standards are not published in the EU Official Journal within the framework of the implementation of the council Directive 2004/108/EC (EMC- Directive) - e.g. for protective light curtains.
  • The listed standards are only partly applied - e.g. in the measurement of large items of equipment, either at the place of assembly, or on the manufacturers premises.
  • No applicable standard exists.
  • Special aspects (e.g. of immunity) are to be tested.
Within the realms of the newly defined liberties of the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC the function of the notified body can play a decisive role in product liability and in minimising risk for manufacturers and those bringing devices onto the market.

The basis for the activation of the notified body is the request in form of an application form to the notified body as well as the mtp testing and certification regulations.
